2024 Winter Intensive Class Schedule

(all times are EST or UTC -5:00)

*Breath Study Workshop:  Experiential practices to bring reinforced breath awareness into Aikido study including conscious breathing and breath training. After a brief introduction, we will jump right into explorations to tune into the felt experience of the breath and the opportunity to bring this more consciously into Aikido practice. Come dressed in your gi as this session will end approximately 5 minutes before the start of the afternoon Aikido classes. Led by Sharon Hainsfurther, a breathwork-trained somatic and ontological coach, group process facilitator and change and transition strategist based in Washington, DC.

**Injury Prevention Workshop:  Aikido Training from the Perspective of a Physical Therapist. Basic principles for injury prevention in training. Suggestions for training safely, working around existing physical issues (for you and for your partner), and possible adaptations for training. Since most of us have injuries (parts we are taking care of) or will be training with partners who do, this should come as a great reminder for everyone! Come dressed in your gi as this workshop will include some movement exercises. Hakama optional. Led by Leslie Russek, PT, DPT, PhD, OCS, Leslie is physical therapist and professor emeritus at Clarkson University, with extensive education, training, and experience in physical therapy, biomedical engineering, and injury prevention. She is based in Potsdam, NY and teaches and trains at North Country Aikido.
